Reading over this, I sound pretty damned curmudgeonly, so I’d like to ameliorate that with a few things that aren’t scams and worth every penny you pay for them:
Real Whipped Cream. Whoever invented it is a genius. It never fails to satisfy. Cool Whip on the other hand is a scam.
High quality shoes for men. They last for years, can be resoled and only improve with age. Worth the spend.
Good tools. I’m a lousy handyman, but what little I’ve done has proved beyond any doubt that the right tool, and a well made one at that, pays the money back.
Great music.
Hot Krispy Kreme donuts. They could double the price, I’m still in for a half dozen.
In a blog post about scams (with hundreds of comments about other scams) is this wonderful and spot-on list of a few things in life that aren’t scams.
