BlackBerry!
I’ve given up for the moment on my hacked iPhone (running on T-Mobile). My new BlackBerry Curve (on AT&T) arrived on Friday and after some serious fussing with settings, I now have my personal email on a BlackBerry. It works great, though it means that for the next month I’ll be carrying two BlackBerries with me all the time (work and personal). Nerd alert!
Added bonus: the AT&T SIM card seems to work fine in my iPhone (with more reliable EDGE than I was getting from T-Mobile), so I can always go back and forth if I’m so inclined.
If you care, and you don’t, I use hosted Exchange at SherWeb.com for my personal email. It works far, far better than the hosted Exchange at 1and1.com that I used up until a few months ago.
At some point when I have more time, I’ll blog about the email setup process. SherWeb offers BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) for an extra $10 a month, and I was tempted to go that route (which would have given me wireless sync of calendar and contacts along with email). But apparently my AT&T plan doesn’t support BES, and paying AT&T an additional $15 a month for BES capability, plus paying SherWeb another $10, would have been just silly. So plain old BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) will have to do, and seems to be doing just fine.
